What You Need To Start - Scrapbooking How To

authoradmin | September 2, 2010

The art of scrapbooking dates as far back as to the sixteenth century and has become increasingly popular in recent years. Scrapbooking can be defined as the act of someone gathering different types or memorabilia, including, photos, notes, letters, poems and even trinkets and then compiling these objects in the form of a scrapbook. There are several reasons why scrapbooking is so popular. Firstly, it serves as a pleasant reminder of past good times and then it’s also an entertaining and relaxing hobby. Finally, it is quite affordable making it accessible to just about anybody.

Scrapbooks can be either generalised around ones happy memories, or more focalised to represent a specific theme or occasion. Some of the more popular themes include Halloween, Christmas, Birthdays, Graduation, Weddings, Christenings and Easter. Not only do scrapbooks serve as wonderful nostalgic memoirs, but they are also often made as gifts, which gives an extra personal touch.

3. Quickutz Inc.

Quickutz Inc. was founded in 2000 by Natasha Hixon.  Natasha was searching for a way to create cut-out letters without having to hand trace or use a big industrial die-cutting machine. Hence the Quickutz personal die-cutting system was born.  Quickutz offers a variety of dies, however, unlike Spellbinders if you want to cut, emboss, and stencil you might find yourself purchasing multiple dies. Most Quickutz die-cuts do not offer a triple function, but if you will be doing projects where you will only be cutting, then Quickutz dies are the most affordable dies on the market.  Also if you are a collector and like new dies they are a die-cutting company that release new dies every month.

The die-cuts are usually seasonal shapes that are released a few months prior to the upcoming season.  So come Christmas, Quickutz will usually have a release in October with all their christmas shapes. When papercrafters think of alphabets, no one can beat their designs. With their new 4×8 alphabets, Quickutz has taken the ease of cutting out letters to a whole new height! Quickutz stands for quality and die-cutting innovation.  With the release of their new universal die-cutting machine the Epic Six, that cuts all their dies and other leading brand dies, it has brought them to a higher level of quality for 2009.  Quickutz Inc. has also joined with Lifestyle Crafts to bring back letterpress printing, making handmade stationery affordable and easy for the home crafter.  This is why Quickutz is in our number three spot.

Now you can begin assembling your scrapbook. Give your scrap book extra texture by adding dried flowers, buttons or beads for example. The fun part is that you don’t have to rush when you are scrapbooking, take your time, relax and enjoy it

Making Your Scrapbook Is As Simple As Counting

authoradmin | September 1, 2010

When it regards special yearly events, for example Christmas and birthdays, or even the birth of a new baby, you will find that you wish these events could be relived again and again. Special events create a feeling of undefined happiness and joy which you can only experience. So why not think about sharing it? Produce a scrapbook to record all the happy memories in your life so that your family can relive those happy moments again. Creating memories which you and your family will enjoy is as easy as counting. Here’s what you need to do.

?    Gather and organize your materials

To begin you will be required to own a scrapbook or photo album, in addition to old and recent photos of a particular event you want to memorize, and additional items for example receipts and tickts and your scrapbooking essentials, which consist of scissors, glue and ribbons, to name a few.

Take the time to search for old pictures. Ask help from the oldest member of your family. After all, you will quickly find that old photos are the best materials when it comes to designing your own scrapbook. They will serve as joyful memories for you and your family to take pleasure in.

Old tickets from your trip to the museum or to the movies as well as concert tickets are also great scrapbooking mementos. These will help you to remember trips that you took many eons ago, which you may have forgotten if it hadn’t been for these rediscovered tickets.

?    Create a theme for your scrapbook

When making a scrapbook, you need to think of a particular theme so you’ll know which direction you’ll be heading in. A disorganized scrapbook is no scrapbook at all. Puzzlement and confusion are major faux pas in the scrapbooking world so it may be a good notion to ask for help from friends and family who were in the event you are scrapbooking.

If your intention is to focus on birthdays in the family, then stick to those. Same goes with Christmases, graduations, family travels, and so on. Simply focusing on one theme will present you the chance to find items for your scrapbook, which means you will be capable of finishing it in plenty of time!

?    Make notes and journals

Once you have decided on the photos, theme and design, you will be required to add notes in your scrabook. Write notes about those particular events. Include who is in the photo, the event that took place, and even a funny story, to name a few. For instance if you have one photo depicting you and your dad in a fishing store or a self defense products shop (and you’re a girl!), you can write a note saying, “Left my girl activities at home as I spend the day with dad purchasing a tazer and fishing poles! Can anyone think of something better?” Make it creative. Write funny notes. This is a good opportunity to let your personality shine through.

In the end all photo albums will do is depict photos and that’s it. It’s still up to you to decipher and recall what happened. With scrapbooks, you are telling the story to someone who views it. You will be producing something that makes you rethink of an event, which will hopefully also make you laugh over the events that took place as well. Sustaining memories is the ultimate goal of scrapbooking. Additionally, your friends and family with also consider it as a thoughtful gesture that they will enjoy.

What I Love About The Cricut Tools Kit

authoradmin |

If you are like me, you have started scrapbooking without buying a large set of tool. Why should I spend money on tools when I can improvise?

But I found out the hard way that a good set of cricut tools is necessary if I want to fully enjoy my scrapbooking projects. In the past, when I started a new scrapbooking project with my Cricut I had to gather all my stuff before I could begin. I had to go through every room and I still missed a few.

There were some other annoyances also. At least once during a project I realized that my improvised tools lack the precision and quality that I need.

Now I have the Cricut essentials: A set of tools that I trust when it comes to scrapbooking.

Here’s what is included in the set of tools:

Scissors: This is not just a scissor, it’s a high precision tool that you need if you want to make a perfect cut.

Scoop: If you have ever had problems with the fragile edges of a paper cut, you know you need a scoop that you can trust. This one will do the job for you.

Spatula: We all know how difficult it is to pick up the tiny bits of paper from the cutting mat. With this tool you can finally pick them up without damaging them at all.

Knife: One of my favorite tools. It’s a high precision tool that everyone needs to finish a scrapbooking project. There’s simply no better way to make those delicate cuts.

There are some other tools and they are all useful during different times in a project. But there’s another thing I want to mention: With the cricut essentials you don’t only have all the tools you need, you also have them stored in one place. That’s way more effective than scattering them all over your rooms.
