Longarm Quilting Machines

authoradmin | September 9, 2009

You may be curious as to what is a longarm quilting service?  Well, it is a service that someone provides to you with a special machine that does the tough finishing of your special, maybe heirloom, quilt.  If you have such a quilt that you have put lots of time and much love into, then you want to be perfectly sure that the finishing is done right, perfectly and without defects.

Since you have discovered this site, I am so grateful that you are here.  When I first started making my keepsake quilts for my special friends, I never quite seemed to get the binding on right.  Or something else just wasn’t right.  I had no idea that something was out there and someone that knew how to use that machine could help me get the exact finish I was looking for.  That’s when I started my searching and ended up starting this blog for you so you wouldn’t miss something that is superb.

If you would like to go here and find a longarm quilting service, I’m sure you will be pleasantly surprised by all of the services they can provide to you, including connecting binding edges on a quilt. Most of my quilts that I have made in the last few years have been finished by this service and I’m so grateful for the service.

Somewhere in that timeframe, I looked into purchasing one.  After doing my research on them, I decided that using a service is much more economical for me.If you were going to buy one, make sure you know that they cost an arm and a leg!  Since people in the past relied on quilting bees to produce finished quilts, I needed to find some other method because buying that machine was not an option for me.

Around the beginning of my quilting escapade, I had many tops, bottoms and bindings, but didn’t know how to get them all together, until I encountered “long arm quilting”.Magical milestones seemed to be around every other day!  Let alone, Christmas.  So I found four quilting services, called them, asked them questions and voila! I had my answer.

I hope you don’t spend as much time as I did trying to find the right quilting service.  This is the reason I have made this blog, so you won’t waste your precious time.

One thing that I have just finished doing, which was a first for me, is I sent a design to my quilting service.  She is making a quilt top from my design on her longarm quilters.  I sent the design, which is unique only to my family, and it will be ready for pick up before my husband’s birthday!  I am so excited about it!  My quilting service is going to do the whole thing, but I made the design!  I never could have made a quilt like that doing it the old fashioned way.  That’s not to say I have given up making homemade, hand quilting services of my own.Nope, never-ever, I adore it excessively.

The best thing about finding my longarm quilting service is that now I have so many more options to add to my hobby. For some more quilts that I will start, they will be nothing like what I have done in the past.
