What You Need To Start - Scrapbooking How To

authoradmin | October 15, 2010

The art of scrapbooking dates as far back as to the sixteenth century and has become increasingly popular in recent years. Scrapbooking can be defined as the act of someone gathering different types or memorabilia, including, photos, notes, letters, poems and even trinkets and then compiling these objects in the form of a scrapbook. There are several reasons why scrapbooking is so popular. Firstly, it serves as a pleasant reminder of past good times and then it’s also an entertaining and relaxing hobby. Finally, it is quite affordable making it accessible to just about anybody.

Scrapbooks can be either generalised around ones happy memories, or more focalised to represent a specific theme or occasion. Some of the more popular themes include Halloween, Christmas, Birthdays, Graduation, Weddings, Christenings and Easter. Not only do scrapbooks serve as wonderful nostalgic memoirs, but they are also often made as gifts, which gives an extra personal touch.

3. Quickutz Inc.

Quickutz Inc. was founded in 2000 by Natasha Hixon.  Natasha was searching for a way to create cut-out letters without having to hand trace or use a big industrial die-cutting machine. Hence the Quickutz personal die-cutting system was born.  Quickutz offers a variety of dies, however, unlike Spellbinders if you want to cut, emboss, and stencil you might find yourself purchasing multiple dies. Most Quickutz die-cuts do not offer a triple function, but if you will be doing projects where you will only be cutting, then Quickutz dies are the most affordable dies on the market.  Also if you are a collector and like new dies they are a die-cutting company that release new dies every month.

The die-cuts are usually seasonal shapes that are released a few months prior to the upcoming season.  So come Christmas, Quickutz will usually have a release in October with all their christmas shapes. When papercrafters think of alphabets, no one can beat their designs. With their new 4×8 alphabets, Quickutz has taken the ease of cutting out letters to a whole new height! Quickutz stands for quality and die-cutting innovation.  With the release of their new universal die-cutting machine the Epic Six, that cuts all their dies and other leading brand dies, it has brought them to a higher level of quality for 2009.  Quickutz Inc. has also joined with Lifestyle Crafts to bring back letterpress printing, making handmade stationery affordable and easy for the home crafter.  This is why Quickutz is in our number three spot.

Now you can begin assembling your scrapbook. Give your scrap book extra texture by adding dried flowers, buttons or beads for example. The fun part is that you don’t have to rush when you are scrapbooking, take your time, relax and enjoy it

Easier Than You Think - DIY Craft Book Publisher

authoradmin | October 13, 2010

Many people think they can write a craft book — and why not? Really there’s not much more to it than explaining what you do — and how you do it — to a friend. Then you just write that down. All you need is a pc and a free program like OpenOffice! The problem people then have is getting that book into print. How do you get yourself a craft book publisher?

Historically that’s been one huge challenge, and something that has been as much decided by the perceived profitability of a book as the actual content or quality. Sadly craft book publishing, like any other book production, has long been controlled by the bean counters we all know and love!

Now we’re in a whole new craft book world, one where self-publishing is a practical reality. One where sales and distribution can be handled by you almost as easily as you handle email. One where you can take that book you’ve put your heart and soul into and actually publish it yourself…

… and of course you get to keep the lion’s share of the money!

Most multi-cookers have a built in thermometer but it is recommended that you use a separate portable one to double check that your wax is melting at the correct temperature. Also, when you stir this wax you will want to use something hard like plastic or metal. Wooden spoons are often used but that can add cause bubbles to form in the gel.

If you are interested in creating a color gel wax candle that is easily done by using liquid candle dyes. Never use crayons, clothing dye or food coloring though because they are not made for this use and your candle will not burn right. Another thing to note is that it only takes a tiny drop of the dye to change to color of your candle.

Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? There must be a catch?

Well nobody can tell if your craft book will actually appeal to a wide audience, and you’ll want to do some additional work to promote it, but all of this can be done by you, from home. What’s more you can also benefit from the residual income that being a craft book publisher generates. You do the work now but the book goes on selling (and putting money in your bank) for years
