Choosing Among the Wii, XBOX and PS3 - Which is the Best?
If a NextGen Console is on your list, the PS3, the XBOX 360, and the Nintendo Wii are the three brands you should be looking at.Each has its own characteristics, advantages, game catalog and selection, so it pays to review the best of each before you make your decision, if it is time for an upgrade or a new purchase.
The Playstation 3 or PS3 is Sony’s brand. This game system is excellent for online multiplayer gaming because of its three Ethernet networking ports that can be connected to your computer or to broadband internet. The storage capacity of the PS3 is 20, 40, 60 or 80 GB, which is considered next-gen.The system also has WIFI and USB ports. Some Sony systems are capable of use with flash cards, Blue-Ray and DVD.If you upgrade, you’ll probably be able to continue playing your old Playstation games on it.
The XBOX 360 is a mash up from Microsoft, IBM, ATI, and other companies. It’s supposed to be a big part of Microsoft’s plan for making a big splash in the gaming industry. This system is nicely equipped with a customized game console that is fun and quite easy to use.A remote control and head set are included. The combination of a Microsoft operating system, a bunch of hard disc space and the numerous excellent games for the XBOX systems probably push it to the top.
The third system is the Wii, the new series from Nintendo, following the Game Cube. The Wii’s operating system is good and has plenty of storage space and memory. The Wii also lets you download Wii games directly to the console. It does have a nunchuck and a remote control, but the Wii system over-all doesn’t compare to the XBOX.Wii’s real hope it that its revolutionary Wiimote may lead to more new concepts in gaming. The system does carry an excellent library of games.
One of the interesting new developments with the Nintendo Wii system is the Mii Channel. You can use the Mii to create 3-D avatars for your Wii system games.Nintendo is setting up a Mii Channel to enable users to share these avatars and vote on them.Wii users love creating avatar models of themselves, their friends, and families and to use them in traditional video game roles.New games will begin incorporating Mii characters into their games, and soon you may see yourself on someone else’s video game screen.Because players are able to save avatars on their Wii system, it’s likely that soon they’ll be able to use them for playing in other online virtual worlds.
To summarize, then, the nod for the best all-around package of console, operating system, game library, and ports goes to the XBOX 360.The Nintendo Wii will come on strong if game developers expand some of the new possibilities inherent in the system.Otherwise, we’ll be waiting for Wiii.
